Welcome to the Australian Local Food System Policy Database. This is a collection of policies from New South Wales (NSW) and Victorian local governments that relate to healthy, sustainable, and equitable food systems.

Environmental Strategy Our Sustainable City The food that we eat has a huge impact on our planet. The food sector accounts for over 20% of global greenhouse emissions, with a third of the food produced in Australia ending up in landfill. Council is working towards raising community awareness of food sustainability through encouraging the community to eat local and seasonal, reducing food waste, supporting sustainable food production, and reducing consumption of animal products.
