Welcome to the Australian Local Food System Policy Database. This is a collection of policies from New South Wales (NSW) and Victorian local governments that relate to healthy, sustainable, and equitable food systems.

POSITIVE AGEING STRATEGY Council had had a limited role in the provision of affordable seniors' rental accommodation. Council has prepared a Local Planning Strategy which has recognised the need for housing affordability across all age groups and is investigating strategies to encourage an increased supply of affordable housing for rent and purchase in the next 20 years. POSITIVE AGEING STRATEGY City of Canada Bay Council has elected to provide some direct services in a limited capacity. This service provision recognises the need for access to affordable and nutritious meals; and the benefit of providing social transport options for older people. Council receives some funding from ADHC (Ageing, Disability and Home Care Department) under its HACC (Home and Community Care) program that assists in providing its meals service as well as funding part of the salary of a Community Project Officer. POSITIVE AGEING STRATEGY There are many well respected and established services within the City of Canada Bay. There is government funding for Home and Community Care (HACC) services which can assist with things like housework, shopping, transport, personal care and provision of meals. These services can be accessed without a referral and they are aimed not only at the person who requires care, but also to assist primary caregivers. POSITIVE AGEING STRATEGY Actively supports and promotes opportunities for connection within the community. POSITIVE AGEING STRATEGY Inner West Community Transport (IWCT) provides regular assisted shopping trips and outings. They can also offer individual assistance, providing a car and driver to transport people primarily to health related appointments. IWCT is a state government funded service.
