Annual Report 2018/19 | Marketing campaigns funded and coordinated included Griffith Easter Party and Griffith Spring Fest, incorporating the Launch Party, Garden Festival and Citrus Sculptures. Additional funding was secured for the A Taste of Italy Griffith campaign, which is set to become one of three major events on the Griffith calendar. The Tourism Team also assisted and sponsored many other local events throughout the year resulting in a very full calendar of sporting or tourism events. National media famils and coverage secured by the Tourism Team included Better Homes & Gardens, Sydney Weekender, Good Chef, Bad Chef, Postcards Australia and Australian Traveller Magazine. The flagship annual event, Spring Fest, saw 68 Citrus Sculptures created for the 2018 Real Juice Company Citrus Sculptures display in October. ANNUAL REPORT 2018/19 | Tourism/Economic Development Field to Forest Festival (1-30 April 2019) The Field to Forest Festival was a month long array (April 2019) of activities in and around Oberon that explored the delicacies and rare finds that one can forage for across the region. This first of its kind event included specialised forage tours for wild mushrooms, secluded forest lunches, a newly launched wine and beer trail and workshops with experts recounting their skills and know-how on foraging in the forest. The festival offered an array of free and ticketed events in order to appeal to both Foraging experts and the broader lifestyle market. ANNUAL REPORT 2018/19 | PROMOTION AND MARKETING OF HAMILTON LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE Implementation of pro-active strategy to promote and grow the Hamilton Regional Livestock Exchange was identified as priority for Council in the 2018/19 Budget. Following the appointment of a dedicated part-time resource to this initiative, promotion and marketing activities of the Hamilton Regional Livestock Exchange (HRLX) commenced. A new logo was been created for the facility which has been used in a variety of ways throughout marketing and promotion activities along with the tagline ‘Your Livestock Exchange’ which is used in conjunction with the logo when suitable. The HRLX social media strategy includes both a Facebook page and an Instagram account, sharing sale day images, truck ramp information and Meat and Livestock Association reports. ANNUAL REPORT 2018/19 | Drought Assistance Program Oberon Council coordinated a collection of non perishable items during August and September 2018 to assist local farmers. Oberon SuperIGA, Foodworks and Reliance Bank all had drop off points for the donations. We gathered items such as non perishable grocery items, toiletries, pet food and other non-perishable items. Council staff distributed the items collected to local farmers. The Oberon Correctional Services staff put together hampers and they were included in the distribution to farmers. In addition to the hampers, we were able to provide Shop Local Vouchers to local farmers to assist with supporting them and local businesses.
