Welcome to the Australian Local Food System Policy Database. This is a collection of policies from New South Wales (NSW) and Victorian local governments that relate to healthy, sustainable, and equitable food systems.

Domain refers to eight broad categories under which various topics are situated. While the presentation of the Fish Traps and adjoining reserve has been improving, the quality of the presentation does not reflect the international significance of the site. Interpretation is limited and visitors are often unsure of where to look and what they are looking at. Visitor facilities are basic and dated and not well located within the Reserve. The paths, car park and vehicle tracks are unsealed and eroding with soil going into the river system and impacting on the Fish Traps. Other points of interest in the precinct, including the Fishway, small row of memorial trees to prominent Aboriginal residents, levee bank and ochre beds, are also poorly presented and/or interpreted. Directions Forward The Fish Traps and adjoining reserve are Crown Land and a Plan of Management is required to prior to any changes being made to the area. Environment and heritage have established a focus group to undertake the consultation for the Plan of Management. From a tourism perspective, factors that should be taken into consideration in the preparation of the Plan of Management include: ÔÇ∑ The quality of the presentation of the area needs to reflect the international significance of the site. ÔÇ∑ The ‚Äòstories‚Äô to be told and how they are told – providing quality interpretation of the Fish Traps and other points of interest within the precinct. ÔÇ∑ Visitor facilities ‚Äì picnic facilities, viewing area/s and walking tracks. ÔÇ∑ Use of the reserve for events and activities such as the Baiame's Ngunnhu Festival ‚Äì providing power and water to the site and identifying locations for portable stages, portable amenities, food vans etc on or adjoining the Reserve. ÔÇ∑ Pedestrian linkages between the Brewarrina VIC, the Fish Traps, Ochre Beds and the Brewarrina Aboriginal Cultural Museum. ÔÇ∑ Access for people with mobility issues.
